Some nights, no matter how hard you try, it can be near impossible to fall asleep and stay sleeping the whole night through. I find this especially true for days when I'm particularly stressed - when it comes time to go to bed, I just can't seem to shut my brain off. When this happens, I've found a few little tricks that usually help me fall back asleep and get a good night's rest.

One of my favorite things to do, usually over a weekend or holiday break, is binge-watch a few seasons of one of my favorite shows. There's few things better than curling up on the couch with some takeout and several hours worth of a great show. Every year, without fail, I struggle with seasonal affective disorder. It always starts up near the beginning of fall, and usually goes away once spring arrives. I've read that for each person, it can affect them a bit differently. For me, I'll be fine during the day, but as soon as it starts to get dark my mood just goes downhill.

Life can be tough sometimes, and if you're not careful it can really beat you down. This past week was pretty crazy - life, work, mental health, and seasonal stress all decided to attack and left me feeling a little less than stellar. Life has it's ups and downs, and sometimes we find ourselves in desperate need of a good pep talk. Almost all of last week was pretty shaky for me and I felt completely off my game. I was doubting every decision, and it really caused my work to suffer.

Near the end of August, I caved and bought an Erin Condren planner after looking through my mom's. I really liked how each day had different sections, and ever since I started using it, I've become more organized and efficient with my day-to-day tasks. I've had a bunch of people ask me how I use my planner, so I though it would be a good idea to detail everything in a post.

Goal-setting has become such a huge part of my life over this past year. I used to always tell myself "oh this needs to be done" and "that needs to be accomplished", but I never actually got around to doing anything. At the first of this year, I decided to start living with intention and began getting serious about what I wanted to achieve in life.

Now that September is here, I'm in full-autumn mode. I'm breaking out the pumpkin mugs, chai tea latte, and plaid shirts (even though I can only wear them indoors right now - damn Missouri weather). To really get in the seasonal mood, I created a playlist that's super chill and moody. I've been listening to during late nights of blog work, and it's made for beautiful background noise.

Over the past year, my blog has really started to grow and this has caused me to think a bit about what success really means to me when it comes to this space. How do I define it? I think it's important to decide for ourselves what it means to be successful bloggers, or we're constantly going to be chasing after an ideal that we'll never reach (or if we do reach "it", we'll never realize we have).

I used to be quite the rebel when it came to sleep. I'd stay up until all hours of the night working on different projects and watching Youtube videos - some nights I'd be up until 4 or 5am! I'd usually have trouble falling asleep (and staying that way all throughout the night without waking up once or twice), so it was just easier to stay up and get work done. I've recently made an effort to follow a more normal sleeping schedule, and I've found a few tricks that work quite well at getting better sleep.
